Therapy & Assistance Dog Foundations

Many Doodle Dogs puppies have gone on to excel as therapy and assistance dogs through accredited external programs—and that success is no accident. Thanks to our deep understanding of behaviour, temperament shaping, and early-stage development, we give our puppies the ideal foundations for support roles right from the start. Their calm nature, intelligence and people-focused temperament are nurtured intentionally, giving them every opportunity to thrive in future therapy or assistance pathways.

While Doodle Dogs is not affiliated with any official therapy or assistance dog organisation and does not provide accredited certification, we do offer the essential pre-training that helps set dogs up for success. Our knowledge, experience, and structured approach allow us to lay strong groundwork in socialisation, emotional regulation, confidence building, and positive, reward-based obedience—skills that accredited programs look for when selecting suitable candidates.

To progress toward formal accreditation, owners must continue with consistent, ongoing training through an approved Assistance Dog organisation in their area. Only these programs can assess, qualify, and officially certify a therapy or assistance dog.

Our owner, Paul Davis, brings over 35 years of hands-on experience as a highly skilled dog handler and trainer. With specialist understanding in behavioural, psychological and emotional wellbeing, his training methods use positive reinforcement to build calm, reliable and adaptable dogs—the perfect starting point for those aiming for support or therapeutic roles.

Therapy and Assistance Puppies available

We currently have puppies available that can be prepared for therapy, assistance and emotional-support roles. Each puppy leaves with strong foundational training, helping them step confidently into homes where physical, emotional or psychological support is needed. These Oodles are naturally intuitive and gentle, making them well suited to providing comfort, stability and companionship for individuals with disabilities or special needs, as well as those seeking emotional grounding or everyday reassurance.

With their calm nature and high trainability, our puppies can grow into dogs that support therapeutic environments such as schools, clinics, aged-care facilities and disability services. Many families also choose them for the sense of security, routine and emotional balance they bring into daily life.
