Why Choose a Groodle

This strange-sounding dog is a cross between a golden retriever and a poodle, making it a perfect pet for any family. Because we have spent years perfecting the groodle breed, our DNA tested and VGA-certified parents produced the best-natured puppies. These puppies also have hypoallergenic, non-shedding coats, which makes them ideal for allergy sufferers.

We only sell groodles to loving homes and give advice and training to every owner on caring for their puppy. And our support doesn’t end when you take your groodle home! Our qualified trainer, Paul, will be on hand with expert advice whenever you need it to help ensure your groodle grows into a happy, obedient dog.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kind of care instructions do you provide for new owners?

We provide a comprehensive care and training instructions package to all new owners, including advice on feeding, grooming, exercise and training. We offer ongoing support and guidance to ensure our dogs are happy and healthy.

  • Why are Hypoallergenic coats so sought after?

A hypoallergenic coat is a type of coat that is less likely to cause allergic reactions in people who are prone to allergies. This can be due to the coat not shedding much or having less dander (dead skin cells) that can cause allergies. This is a real game-changer for allergy sufferers.

Keeping in mind no dog breed is completely hypoallergenic, meaning shed’s no hair at all, but if it’s the type of allergy that reacts to dog dander, this kind of coat is your best bet at having no reaction.

Note – if you suffer from a dog allergy that is brought on by it’s saliva, the reaction will be the same to our Groodles with hypoallergenic coats.

  • Groodle generations, what are they are how do they differ?

A Groodle, at conception, is a hybrid dog breed that is created by crossing a Golden Retriever with a Poodle. Like many hybrid breeds, there can be variation in the generations of Groodles, in size, coat types, health benefits and temperaments.

Here are the commonly recognized generations of Groodles:

F1: The first generation of Groodles is the F1. This is when a purebred Poodle is crossed with a purebred Golden Retriever. The resulting offspring are 50% Poodle and 50% Golden Retriever.

F1B: The F1B generation is created by crossing an F1 Groodle with a purebred Poodle. This breeding results in puppies that are 75% Poodle and 25% Golden Retriever. F1B Groodles tend to have a curly coat and are often even more hypoallergenic than F1 Groodles.

F2: An F2 Groodle is created by crossing two F1 Groodles together. The resulting puppies are 50% Poodle and 50% Golden Retriever, just like the F1 generation.

F2B: The F2B generation is created by crossing an F1 Groodle with an F1B Groodle. This breeding results in puppies that are 62.5% Poodle and 37.5% Golden Retriever. F2B Groodles can have a curly or wavy coat and are usually low-shedding.

F3 or Multi-Generational: A Gold Coast Groodle! A multi-generational Groodle is created by crossing a Groodle with another Groodle for several generations. These dogs are usually at least third-generation Groodles and can have a more consistent appearance and coat type. We are proud to offer puppies that have beautiful, hypoallergenic coats of medium and standard size.

  • How much exercise do they require?

These adorable pups are full of energy and love to play, but it's important to remember that they don't need to run a marathon every day.

After your puppy has finished it’s vaccination schedule at 12 weeks of age, a 15-30 minute walk on a leash is perfect for their daily exercise. Too much exercise at a young age can cause lasting damage to their developing bones, and we don't want that!

As your Groodle grows into an adult, they'll still need daily exercise, but they'll be able to handle a bit more. A 45 minute to 1 hour walk a day will have their tales wagging. They’re super adventurous and social and love to play, swim, and run around with other pups at the dog park or beach! The duck hunting dog within them just LOVES the water!

  • What is the size difference between a Medium & Standard Groodle?

The main difference between a medium Groodle and a standard Groodle is their size. A medium Groodle typically weighs between 14kg and 18kg, while a standard Groodle can weigh between 18kg and 24kg.

In terms of height, a medium Groodle usually stands around 45cm to 55cm tall at the shoulder, while a standard Groodle is usually around 55cm to 65cm tall. This means that a standard Groodle is generally taller and larger overall than a medium Groodle. We find that our males tend to grow on the larger side of both weight and height ranges listed above.

In terms of exercise needs, both medium and standard Groodles require regular exercise to stay healthy and happy.

It’s important to consider the size that will best suit your lifestyle and living situation, as both sizes have their own unique benefits and considerations.
